Yossi Eshbol (Israel) records a regal-looking jungle cat resting on a small hill, surveying its surroundings.
Yossi often visits Agamon Hula in Israel. In the fading light, he drove past this jungle cat that was sitting “like a king overlooking its kingdom”.
Turning back again slowly, careful not to disturb the cat, Yossi took this photograph from the car window using his long lens. He loved the contrast in the cat’s relaxed posture and the intense command of its expression.
The Hula Reclamation Project is a large-scale restoration scheme that has created a new wetland ecosystem where wildlife is flourishing.
Jungle cats are among the mammalian predators that thrive there. Others include mongooses, wolves and jackals.
