A man steps off a boat with a live broad-nosed crocodile for sale at Maluku port on the outskirts of Kinshasa. In this region most of the trade in wildlife, both legal and illegal, takes place on the Congo River.
Broad-nosed crocodiles are small, relatively placid and easily transported alive without the need for refrigeration. They usually sell for $40-$100.
