A dead animal, a bulldozer and a chainsaw leave the viewer in no doubt about what’s happening.
But Daniel is drawn to more abstract representations. ‘If an image has an intrinsic aesthetic value, people may be more prepared to engage with it, even if the content is challenging.’ When the viewer works out what the picture depicts here (the tracks of massive construction vehicles), the scale of the image and the environmental tragedy are apparent.

Over the past two decades, Daniel’s work has taken him to all seven continents. Spill, his exhibit of images documenting the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, premiered in August 2010 and has toured the globe. He is a fellow and board member of the International League of Conservation Photographers.
