Checklists
Checklists are lists of species compiled to:
- Cover a piece of legislation, e.g. a list of endangered species in Ireland.
- Define taxonomic group, e.g. a list of all UK birds.
The checklists are complied by an authority such as a government agencies, scientific experts and conservation organisations. The authorities own the intellectual property and copyright of the list.
The Dictionary of UK species contains over 200 checklists of species provided by a variety of government, conservation and scientific experts and organisations.
