The Museum is very popular with families, so use the information below to help plan your day.
The Museum is fairly compact, but visits can involve plenty of walking, so wear comfortable shoes.
Bags and pushchairs
You can leave your pushchairs and bags in a room on the ground floor near the Museum's main entrance. Our lift goes to all main gallery floors if you need your pushchair with you.
The free car park is located close to the Museum entrance. At busy times parking may be limited and you can use the town car parks shown on the Getting here map.
There are baby changing facilities in our toilets. There is a unisex toilet on the ground floor which is accessible to wheelchair users.
Food and drink
Highchairs are available in the Zebra Café. Foods containing nuts and dairy products are labelled, but if in doubt, check with a member of Museum staff.
The Zebra Café has self-service hot or cold drinks and confectionery available and can also be used for packed lunches.
Weekends, bank holidays and local school holidays
Café staff will be happy to warm bottles. The Zebra Café offers locally made sandwiches and paninis, children's lunch boxes and a range of cakes. Speciality teas and coffees are also available, along with soft drinks and a selection of ice creams. You can eat your own packed lunch in the outdoor picnic areas, or in the wildlife meadow across the street from the main building.
