Wildlife Photographer of the Year is delighted to welcome Leica Camera as a sponsor for the 2020 exhibition at the Museum.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is the Museum's global platform for the world's best nature photography and wildlife photojournalism. ​

Now in its fifty-sixth instalment, it is the world's longest-running and most prestigious annual wildlife photography competition. Open to photographers of all ages and abilities, Wildlife Photographer of the Year receives almost 50,000 entries from 100 countries around the globe.

A major exhibition of the award-winning images opens at the Museum in London in October every year, before touring across the UK and internationally. The winning images are also featured across digital platforms and publications, and have even been showcased at the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos for the last two years.

Thanks to the competition's prestige and the exhibition's reach, the photographs are seen by millions of people around the globe every year.

For nearly a century, Leica has crafted photographic instruments for the people who record history through images, standing together as they expose tragedy and injustice to bring about hope and change. Leica have and always will have a commitment to the global photography community to share their stories and images for the greater good.

The fifty-sixth Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards ceremony was a perfect opportunity to work with Leica and their camera ambassadors. Together we showed the impact an image can have on society and how photography empowers people to speak up for what's important. This initiative is to encourage everyone to pick up a camera and document what they see happening in the world around them.
