Family Glyphopneustidae Smith & Wright, 1993, p. 210

Diagnosis Echinacea with:
  • apical disc dicyclic with small smooth-edged periproct; ring of perianal tubercles present on genital plates;
  • ambulacral plate compounding of triads in goniopygid style;
  • sphaeridial pits present below the ambitus on every demiplate adjacent to pore-pair;
  • tubercles imperforate and non-crenulate
Range Upper Cretaceous (Cenomanian to Maastrichtian), North Africa and Arabian Peninsula
Type Glyphopneustes Pomel, 1883
Species Included Smith & Wright (1993) also included Arbia, which is here treated as a member of the Arbaciidae
