Peripatagus Koehler, 1895, p. 231

Diagnostic Features
  • Test ovate with convex anterior; depressed in profile.
  • Apical disc with two posterior gonopores; positioned anterior of centre; structure unknown
  • Ambulacra nonpetaloid, all similar; flush with interambulacra; Pores rudimentary.
  • Peristome towards anterior; kidney-shaped. Labrum projecting over peristome in oral view. Labral short, not extending posterior of ambulacrum plate 1; Sternal almost plates symmetrical; Episternal plates offset not indented by ambulacral plates. Ambulacral plate 6 abuts rear suture of episternal plates. Interambulacral zones 1 & 2 amphisternous, others unknown.
  • Periproct marginal; large.
  • Marginal fascioles present, that passes anteriorly below the ambitus. Aboral tuberculation heterogeneous; scattered tubercles over all plates. On oral surface plastron fully tuberculate.

Species Included Only the type species.
Classification and/or Status Spatangoida, Paleopneustina, Paleopneustidae

?. Monotypic.
Remarks Placement uncertain, due to incomplete knowledge of plating and ambulacral pore structure. Supposedly belonging to the Palaeopneuestidae due to the presence of a marginal fasciole, overal shape and flush ambulacra.
