2. In winged species, fore wing virtually without venation, unique in having a reticulate structure; hind wing reduced, stalk-like (100%)
3. Mandibles exodont (100%)
4. Head with pleated membranous hyperoccipital region of bellow-like appearance (100%)
5. Minute species, length less than 0.75mm long

The family currently includes 3 genera (2 fossil) and 17 species (8 fossil). No subfamily classification has been proposed.

Biology

Unknown, but a specimen has been reared from a bracket fungus (Gibson, 1993) and in New Zealand the species are commonly associated with weevils in mosses.
