Diagnostic Features	Taxon based on isolated spines. Spines fusiform. Shaft ornamented with generally dense and more or less regularly arranged rows of pustules. Neck short and smooth; base non-crenulate.
Distribution	Upper Triassic (Carnian); Italy.
Name gender	masculine
Type	Cidaris haussmanni Wissmann, in Wissmann & Munster, 1841, p. 45, by original designation.
Species Included	Only the type species.
Classification and/or Status	Indeterminate (spine-based taxon).
Remarks	Because the species is based on a spine and no test are known with these spines attached, the taxon is indeterminate. The best illustrations of this species are given by Zardini (1976).
