Summary

I am a mineralogist who studies the crystal-chemistry and atomic-structure of minerals in order to constrain the conditions of geochemical and geological processes. In addition to studying the atomic structure and stability of minerals, my research focuses on the properties and behaviour of minerals within complex, heterogeneous, multi-phase aggregates and rocks. Such systems include the matrix mineralogy of carbonaceous chondrite meteorites, oxidised lateritic ore deposits and deforming polycrystalline rocks. To study mineral properties at the atomic-scale in these complex systems my group uses diffraction, spectroscopy and spectromicroscopy methods, particularly those available at international synchrotron and neutron facilities.

Introduction

Summary

I am a mineralogist who studies the crystal-chemistry and atomic-structure of minerals in order to constrain the conditions of geochemical and geological processes. In addition to studying the atomic structure and stability of minerals, my research focuses on the properties and behaviour of minerals within complex, heterogeneous, multi-phase aggregates and rocks. Such systems include the matrix mineralogy of carbonaceous chondrite meteorites, oxidised lateritic ore deposits and deforming polycrystalline rocks. To study mineral properties at the atomic-scale in these complex systems my group uses diffraction, spectroscopy and spectromicroscopy methods, particularly those available at international synchrotron and neutron facilities.
