Mr Ed Baker
Data Researcher
Division: LS Diversity and Informatics Division
Summary
My research covers two broad areas, the orthopteroid insect orders (grasshoppers, stick insects, cockroaches, etc) and how technology can be used to aid biodiversity research. I am the project leader of BioAcoustica - an online repository and analysis platform for recorded wildlife sound, and I lead the digitisation of the Museum's recorded sound collection. Recent projects include work on the acoustic burrows of mole crickets, hardware data loggers built using open technologies and the development of LED light traps for aquatic insects.
