Shahpur Kabraji joins the Natural History Museum’s Board of Trustees

The Natural History Museum is pleased to announce the Prime Minister’s appointment of Shahpur Kabraji to the Board of Trustees.

Sir Patrick Vallance, Chair of the Trustees of the Natural History says: “I am delighted that Shahpur Kabraji is joining the board. He brings significant legal expertise and is a great enthusiast for the work of the Museum.

Shahpur joins the Museum as its new Legal Trustee. He is a Partner of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, a leading global law firm. He focuses on domestic and cross-border finance transactions and regularly advises leading global private equity sponsors, their portfolio companies and corporates in connection with a variety of corporate finance transactions. As part of his various responsibilities at Simpson Thacher, he is co-chair of the London Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Shahpur says: “It is an honour to join the Natural History Museum as a trustee. My museum experience started in childhood, wandering the halls in awe as I observed one of the world's most important natural history collections -  and now extends to bringing my own children to regularly experience that wonder for themselves.

“The Museum is at the forefront of expanding awareness about issues relating to the natural world that affect all our lives, from climate change to species conservation. I am looking forward to doing all I can to promote and safeguard this national treasure and help the Museum navigate some of the complex legal issues that come with its role and mission.”

Shahpur joins the other current members of the Board of Trustees: Chair - Sir Patrick Vallance KCB FRS FMedSci FRCP HonFREng; Dame Frances Anne Cairncross DBE FRSE FAcSS; Robert Noel; Prof Dame Jane Francis DCMG FRS; Prof Dame Janet Maureen Thornton DBE FRS FMedSci FRSC; Yadvinder Singh Malhi CBE FRS; Harris Bokhari OBE; Mark Read and Dr Sarah E Thomas.
